Job Loss - How Job Loss Traumatizes

The awful effect of job loss is not only on the person that is out of employment, but everyone that has one thing or the other to do with him both at the home front and the entire society at large.. There is no gainsaying the fact also that the ugly situation has led to divorces particularly by the women who cannot cope with the hardship of life in the cases where the man is sole bread winner of the family.

It is only those who experience the stark challenge of inability to cope with their usual life style after losing their jobs know exactly where the shoe pinches so the only way out is accept the reality and face life squarely. This, no doubt, is the moment when one is always on one’s own because of the difficulty of getting people to help in meeting the minutest domestic expenses and if someone grudgingly  does today, it will stories upon stories tomorrow so in that case, one becomes an orphan that has no parent unlike a successful person that belong to everybody.

If one is lucky to have an understanding marital partner, there is always a limit to which he or she can bear the heavy burden in terms of supporting the recurrent domestic bills while sadness and disapproval is normally written in the face whenever a demand in such direction is made by the unemployed partner. This can be a very dark moment in one’s life that may lead to one cursing the day one was born.
Whichever way one may look at it, this could be a tense moment for sadness, resentment and anger from all quarters, both expected and unexpected, so the only way out in that respect is just to find the ways and means of supporting oneself to the best of one’s ability by looking for odd jobs no matter how less dignifying in order to keep both the body and the soul together during the trying period.

No matter how best you may try, one’s best laid plans are normally torn into shreds particularly when it comes to the issue of finance which may not come one’s way easily since people are not ready and willing to lend a jobless person money for the fear that it may not be repaid. At this juncture, the only way out is to cut your coat according to your cloth and not your size by being very prudent with the little your friend or close associate may help you with

As for reducing one’s recurrent expenses, it is  a matter of wisdom to change one’s usual life style. If you are a tenant in the three bedroom apartment, you will do yourself a whale of good by relocating to a room and a parlor for the mean time in order to avoid the embarrassment of the landlord and instead of craving for new cloths, it is always cost saving to launder and iron well those in one’s possession as long as it is not torn or fade.

Whenever job is lost, prestige also becomes shaken particularly with one’s spouse who may feel to be carrying too heavy a load in the house either through house rent or payment of school fees for the children. Along the line, maintaining harmony and peace in the home front might be an uphill task while tempers can easily rise and quarrels might be the order of the day by the supporting party particularly these days when the global economic melt down does not appear to be abating in all the social circles. The most enduring way during the hard time is to seek the face of the Lord who is the only provider of solution to any human problems.

How to Cope With Job Loss – Psychological Adjustment is the starting point!

Did you just wake up one morning and realized that there is no more income earning job for you? There is no gainsaying the fact that you will be disoriented for the first few days of such unexpected occurrence in your life. Just accept the fact that you are not the first to pass through the ordeal and that it has happened to millions of others out there. It is quite unnecessary that you should be hard on yourself or engage in one form of self-pity or another.  Since this is a very awful situation that is beyond your control it is better you allow the ensuing emotional, traumatic and psychological effect to run its course because that is the only phenomenon that can lead you to the right path of a new life of reality.

Since there is no gainsaying the fact that you just must adjust to the reality and move on with life there are three things you must focus upon: "Maintain a studied calmness" dismiss yourself psychologically from your ex- employment, and face the life squarely..

"Maintain a studied calmness"
Once you wake up in the morning just pray to your maker and meditate as much as possible. It is equally good to take a walk, jog or do one form of exercise or another in order to maintain a good mental and physical balance. You may also go through various newspapers to see if there is any advertised job opportunities for which you can apply.  After the lunch you may read books and materials that can help you in your search for a new employment that is now scarce now a days because of the ever biting global economic impasse.

Dismiss yourself psychologically from your ex- employment.
In order to keep yourself out of any post job loss trauma you just must dismiss yourself from your former employment and avoid contact with former colleagues from the office except they are too close to you.  As from now on, every contact you make or the time spent interacting with those who were dismissed with you at the same time or still working is just an extension of your mental agony. Never nurse the fate or anger about your former employer for no reason but face the future squarely, this because tough time never lasts but tough people always do.

It is equally always good to give yours self some quiet moment by sitting comfortably on a chair, meditate and review your actions during the last years, months and days at your former employment. Reflect on the beautiful months you shared with everybody as well as the successes you recorded while at work.  Be happy that you left the employment with clean bill of health and still have a roof over your head as well as many things that make you stand shoulder high among your peers. Count your blessings and thank your stars that although your job is gone, but your life is still intact. You will find another job since you had one before. No need to despair.

Face the life squally:
Since there is no amour against fate and what will be will be, you should not stop your regular leisure activities or hobbies. Always do what you like in sport, cultural or social activities and be more forward looking socially by mixing with people and be interested in neighborhood development. This is because your mixing with people in the community will enable you to avoid boredom and regain your emotional balance on a gradual basis. Never hide in your house all the day but go out and enjoy life as if there is no tomorrow but be moderate in all you do. If you put these three activities into practice for one or even a few weeks you will surely be tended to leave the past behind and face the future in the right way.

How to Overcome the stigma of unemployment

How to overcome the stigma of unemployment should not be a phenomenon that is far to seek because it is only those that are out of jobs for one reason or another that can fill the pinch of abject poverty. As an able bodied person without any corporal defect whatsoever, you wake up in the morning and do not have one particular thing to do or a particular place to go and without a cent in your pocket to meet up with the most mundane of your daily needs, then you do not need a soothsayer to tell you that the life is not a bed of roses.

It is, no doubt, a bush of thorns also when you stay alone in your environment while your mates go to their different places of work and return at the end of the day totally worn out because of the routine and the attendant challenges that have become their normal way of life. This is more aggravated particularly when you are a living witness with what they do with the fruits of their labor that is their ability to make both end ends meet without tears there is no gainsaying the fact that you will feel quite despondent particularly when you are unable to come out of your own cocoon and be in the same camp with them.

What you always do is to analyze yourself and see where you are found wanting, not because you are do not have good educational qualification that can stand you in a good stead of a required standard of life like your peers, but the work for you to do is not just there no matter how hard you may look for it. When you take into account the number of establishments, factories and offices to which you have submitted an application for employment but which yield negative results always, there is no way you will not feel that life is being unfair to you.

As it is the case in our society today, thousands of graduates are churned out of our tertiary institutions like the universities and polytechnics with the authorities incapable of providing employment opportunities for the young ones and since they virtually have nothing to do, they have no option than to resort to crimes both high-tech and low-tech to survive the very harsh conditions of life to which there is no end in sight for now.

Thanks goodness, the Internet has provided a wide range of opportunities and the only way out of this horrible social condition is to resort to the world wide web and search for the wide range of opportunities and with much diligence they will be in a good position to get something like paid data services from which they can make a little bit of income to survive. Overcoming the stigma of unemployment is no easy task but since every dark cloud has a silver lining, the question of sitting on the fence and bemoan one’s fate should no longer arise and all that is necessary to do is to act and avoid wishful thinking which is an ill-wind that blows nobody any good.
